Children's Yoga

In a fast pace, highly competitive, and rigorous environment, children encounter a variety of experiences and are vulnerable to life's challenges. Unfortunately, children are often unequipped with the skills and tools to effectively navigate through life's challenges. As a result, children experience anxiety, increased stress, questionable diagnoses and academic difficulties (just to name a few). However, yoga is an activity that enhances emotion, mental, and physical healthy, which harmoniously creates a healthy overall well-being. Yoga is a tool that teaches children how to use movement and breath to cope with conflict, cultivate positive self-esteem, and find contentment within their own body.

Yoga caters to the three common types of learners: auditory, visual, and kinesthetic. Visually, children see the yoga teacher demonstrating the poses. Auditory music is either played in the background, children sing sounds aloud, or a combination of both is used. And, yoga itself is a form of kinesthetic movement. For more information of the three types of learners, check out my blog post

Essentailly yoga serves as a safe place for children to let loose, have fun, and develop a greater understanding of who they are in the world in which they live in.

I teach INCLUSIVE and TRAUMA-INFORMED children's yoga classes that accomodate all abilities and levels. I steer away from the typical sports-based arena and focus on providing a non-competitive, positive, and safe space. Each yoga class follows a traditional format with room for necessary changes. I integrate the values of community, peace, and positive energy throughout the yoga class and emphase the saying, "Be Kind, Be True, Be You."
